As you are aware, meetings with prisoners have been suspended due to COVID 19 conditions till further notice.
The Prisons Department Punjab has created an interactive portal where relatives of inmates can send financial assistance to their prisoners to use the canteen/telephone facilities that are available to them. Punjab Prisons Department Launches Online Payment Facility
The Prisons department Punjab has recently started a new facility. Now, it is possible for relatives or friends of inmates to transfer money to them via online mode. The inmates can use the money for availing canteen and telephone facilities.
Thanks to the online faciltities, you may now book online appointment for Jail Visit using E mulaqat service.
This decision is a result of the recent COVID 19 situation and a good one. All those who want to avail the benefit of this facility must read the steps given in the later section of this article.

About Punjab Prisons Department
Founded in 1854, the Punjab Prison Department is governed by The Punjab Prison Act 1894 and Punjab Jail Manual 1996. The motto of the department is Custody, Care, and Correction, and it strives to achieve the mission of maintaining a balance between Security, Control, and Justice. Prison staff tries their best to provide a safe environment for the prisoners, instill discipline among them, and provide them with opportunities for reformation and rehabilitation.
Punjab has 26 jails, which include 10 Central Jails, 11 District Jails, and 5 Sub Jails. Patiala also has a jail training school under the Punjab Prison Department. Combined, all the jails have a capacity of 26556.

► Step 2: Click On the Online Payment Gateway link
On the homepage itself, you will see a link “online payment gateway”, click on it.
► Step 3: Enter the Prisoner ID
Now, you will be redirected to another page, where you need to enter the Prisoner ID.
► Step 4: Select the amount and make the payment
To complete the process, enter the amount you wish to transfer and complete the payment using your Credit/Debit Card, Net banking, or UPI.
